Bos indicus
The Boran is a Zebu beef breed developed by the Borana Oromo people of southern Ethiopia and refined by ranchers in northern Kenya through the early-to-mid 20th century into East Africa's premier indigenous beef animal. Mature bulls weigh 550-850 kg and cows 400-550 kg, typically white or light-coated with a pronounced thoracic hump and small horns.
