Soil types: Prefers deep, well-drained sandy coastal soils; tolerant of salinity and can grow close to the shoreline.
Water requirements: Moderate to high; benefits from consistent rainfall (1000-2500mm/yr) or irrigation in drier coastal stretches, though established palms tolerate short dry spells.

Planting guide: Propagated from pre-germinated seednuts; spaced roughly 7-9m apart in pits enriched with organic matter and sand.
Care guide: Needs regular weeding and fertilization; watch for rhinoceros beetle, coconut mite and lethal yellowing disease, which have caused localized coastal losses.
